Hello, I'm Ashley!
Welcome expecting mothers! Thank you for visiting my site. I am a mother of two and a resident of SLO County. I am a double-trained, Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula (Cornerstone, 2022) serving north and south San Luis Obispo County, CA. I am also a trained Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PSI, 2023) and Births Rights Advocate (Birth Monopoly, 2022) as well as trained in breastfeeding support, newborn care, trauma-informed care, and bereavement support.
My passion for birth work began after becoming a mother myself and experiencing two very different births of my own-- One where I lacked support, advocacy and education and the following one where I had prioritized all three. After experiencing a birth where I had more control, knowledge, and the primordial knowing that my body knew what to do, I felt a calling to share this with other expecting parents. Since becoming a doula two years ago, there remains within me a deep longing to protect and advocate for another's birthing space. When a person transcends into parenthood from a place of power, the journey ahead begins with a more solid foundation-- emotionally, physically and psychologically. This power comes from feeling informed and connected to the birth process. And that is precisely what I aim for as your doula--education and connection!
Birth work continues to challenge and inspire me in many ways. In a society where parenthood can be isolating and families are broken a part by distance, I've sought out ways to broaden my support and services. I offer a soup and tea service to ensure proper nourishment during the recovery period and started a recovery skin care line for new moms and babies called Skin to Skin. One third of my prenatal support for birth clients focuses solely on navigating the postpartum period. I am continuously working towards furthering my own education and just finished a Certificate of Completion Course in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders through Postpartum Support International.

Before becoming a doula I lived in Minneapolis, San Francisco and Long Beach working in farm to table restaurants and learning about sustainable and organic agriculture. I have been an avid gardener now for eight years growing just about every vegetable and herb including medicinal herbs that I use in my baby/mama skin care line, Skin to Skin, and my soup service.
I am also an artist and published writer. I earned a Bachelor's degree in the Arts from the University of Minnesota. My family and I love living in SLO County and exploring the endless ocean and mountain scenes here.
